The Broadcast
"You are listening to New Music Friday on Radio Fort Brunsett, with your host, Amanda Green." Again, the message is pre-recorded, but at least this time it's the voice of one of the regular hosts at the radio station. Not some weird computerized things.
"Hel-lo, Fort Brunsett! As my lovely intro has already informed you... This is Her Royal Majesty Amanda Green, and I am bringing to you New Music Friday," comes the ever so lovely English-accented voice of Amanda Green. "I won't lie, I've had a rubbish sort of week. In fact, it's rubbish enough that I am not coming to you live from the Fort Brunsett Radio studio! Rather, I am at my home, behind my own personal mike." There's a pause, then the host continues. "Right, so, let's get to it. The latest from Foo Fighters is absolute slapper titled The Sky Is A Neighborhood." Foo Fighters - The Sky Is A Neighborhood
"Bit of a heavy to sound to that one, yeah?" Green asks, as her voice returns to the air. "Let's keep that going for bit... this is Walk On Water from Thirty Seconds To Mars." Thirty Seconds To Mars - Walk On Water
"Now... I am well aware that Jared Leto is quite the talking point. Very few people left who don't have an opinion about the man," says Her Royal Majesty. "As ever, if anyone wishes to an audience with my royal self, feel free to call or text in to the station's number. I'll hear requests for new music, thoughts on life, your favorite breed of dog, how much of a twit you think Jared Leto is or isn't... or... you know... Your favorite Taylor Swift song?" Green offers up. A pause, then she continues. "Could it be this new one, titled Look What You Made Me Do?" Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do
"Dark Taylor... what do you all think? This is the first single off her new album, set to be released November 10th. Wonder if the rest will sound the same?" Green asks over the airwaves, curiosity laced through her voice. "Now, let's depart from the dark and talk about the night. Or, well, I'll let Gold Fir do the talking for me. This is Night Walk." Gold Fir - Night Walk
"Mooooving right along," says Amanda Green, "this is Jorja Smith and Preditah, bringing us a new track titled On My Mind. A song that would likely be better with proper headphones, but still delightful either way." Jorja Smith X Preditah - On My Mind
"Have anyone on your mind... that you wish wasn't?" Green asks over the airwaves, her voice dropping a touch deeper. "I know I do," she adds. "This next one is called The Way Life Goes by Lil Uzi Vert. Appropriately dark, for our dark day today..." Lil Uzi Vert - The Way Life Goes
"From Lil Uzi Vert's thought on life... to Beck's," Amanda Green says, her voice decidedly a touch muted. No sweet smiles behind it. Not that she's lamenting behind the mike, but appropriately somber. "This is Dear Life." Beck - Dear Life
"To all my listeners out there that are holding on... Keep holding on," Green says, the sweetness back in her voice. "For yourself. For those that love you. For me. Believe me... there's someone out there that cares more than you know," she says. "Now... I know I'm not. Rather feeling quite old. But... maybe... I am Too Young. This is the latest from ayokay." ayokay - Too Young
"We're going to pick up the pace now. This lovely woman is from New South Whales, Australia," Green says into the mike. "Which means not English," she adds, smirking as the words come out. "This is Ruby Fields with P Plates." Ruby Fields - P Plates
"That does it, Fort Brunsett. That's all our time. Well, almost all. I wouldn't leave you without a little parting gift. Which just so happens to be the song I am most excited about this week..." Green says, excitement sounding keen in her voice. "Right. This has been New Music Friday on WFBR, Fort Brunsett Radio. I am Amanda Green, and I have been and remain honored to be your host. Please do make sure to tune in next week...!" And then comes a pause. Did the show end? Maybe?! No! "And this. To play us out. Is Rod Stewart featuring DNCE." A dramatic pause. "That's right, loves. Hot Rod has teamed up with a Jonas Brother to bring us a new version of Da Ya Think I'm Sexy. Enjoy." Rod Stewart - Da Ya Think I'm Sexy ft. DNCE
