Visiting The Moonglade

"But no change."

Participants

Cassian and Rozalia

2017.07.27

Roz wanders the market and runs into a familiar face.

Location

Hedge

It's been a week since the night in the club, but it hasn't gone far from Rozalia's mind. There's been dreams, fantasies and other things. One of her errands had brought her into the Hedge and the local Goblin market near nightfall. There's still the safety of the light for the moment, but soon it would be dark. The woman is dressed differently than she was on that night. Her dress doesn't fit so tightly but still shows off her slim frame until it flares at the hips. There's black boots on her feet and her hair long green curls are loose and blowing in the wind. She has a small bag with her, probably with her business for the day.

Cassian sat in an impossibly tall stool, shaped of ornate wood and seemingly requiring an impressive amount of balance to not overturn. But then, that was sorta his bag. He didn't recognize the girl at first, as he leaned into the corner and tried to shy from the light as best he could. But when it dawned on him who it was, he eyed her for a long moment. He wondered if she would feel the eyes on her... or if she would keep walking by. Who knew.

Roz might not have noticed if someone hadn't bumped into her. A short and bulky hobgoblin that is carrying a box. Whatever is inside hisses at her as she is bumped to the side and she ends up having to brace her hands against the booth of his. There's something muttered in Romanian and then she straightens up. But it doesn't take long to figure out someone is staring at her and she slowly looks over her shoulder to the man in the corner hiding from the light. There's a bit of a blink, her softly glowing eyes curious as she looks to him. "I...hello." she whispers to him.

The Wyrd had a funny way of doing whatever it wanted with his life--He supposed that was the cost he had by not turning entirely from the world of Faerie. His lips purse a moment in thought before he begins to speak. He even leans out a bit thoughtfully, seemingly warded against the light. "Well," he says, thoughtfully, as he gives her another once over, "We meet again."

Roz leans in a little so that the Darkling doesn't have to deal with the light that much. She gives the faintest shiver when he looks her over again. A smile at his words, "So we do." she tells him as she looks to his violet eyes. "We didn't do much talking the first time we met though, did we." she gives him an impish grin. "Maybe that should change?" she offers with a soft smile to him.

"I think under the current company, that might be the best idea," he says quietly, glancing around them. "I don't suppose many would care, but, I've no interest in being a display piece. And here, those memories would be worth far too much to give away," he says. He rises from the stool a moment, and steps forward to lean on the cherry wood of the counter. It has a bit of give, but, it seems to steady quickly with only an exhausted creak. He reaches down behind the counter to pull a fruit from the bag. "Care for something?" He asks, offering the fruit toward her. "A kiss from the lady for a piece of fruit," he adds--It was the Goblin Market.

Roz gives a look to either side of them, her dark lashes touching the crest of her cheeks as she looks down in front of her. Then she looks up to him and there's a soft smile, "I don't want to be a display piece either. I was for a long time." she nods to that. There's a look to the bag that he pulls out and the fruit that he takes from it. She reaches up to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear and then leans against the counter gently, "A kiss for a piece of fruit sounds like a fair deal." she nods to that. "Chaste kiss or something soft, sweet and full of longing?" she asks him as she looks to his eyes.

"Lady's choice, but, no change," he warns her. He leans forward a bit, resting on an elbow. The fruit is offered across to her. "Always fair deals here," he says.

Roz gives a soft smile as she leans in closer. A moment is taken to listen to him and she chuckles, "I think I know just what type to give." she nods to that. She leans forward, taking the offered fruit and holding it gently as she catches his lips in a soft and warm kiss.

There's a grin to Cassian's lips before she meets them with her own. He enjoys the sensation as long as she remains, only leaning away when she retreats. "I never got the chance to ask you if you enjoyed the other night," he says, rolling his shoulders. "What brings you to the market?" He asks her.

Roz only keeps contact for a few moments, not wanting to draw attention to them. When she draws back there's a bit of a smile to him. His question makes her lips quirk into a soft grin, "Yes, I enjoyed the other night." she admits. "Though we didn't exchange names." she points out. "I was picking up an occult trinket for some research." she explains. "And I see that you are a merchant. Makes me wonder how many times I've not seen you here." she muses as she lifts the fruit to her nose to smell.

"I'm new to this place. So, I doubt you've missed me too much. You caught me as I found my first job here in town. But when I'm not working, I see what I can't peddle to the folk. You'd be surprised what we can turn up, here, and it lets me offer my services functionally to the 'hold," he explains. He considers something a moment. "We'll call the name a freebie," he says, "They call me Cassian."

Roz listens to him and there's a nod of understanding, "Welcome to town then." she tells him wihth a smile. "I'm a member of Fate's Harvest, and we are fellow Courtiers I see." she explains as she mentions his mantle. When he tells her his name there's a warm smile, "It's nice to meet you, Cassian. I'm Rozalia. Most call me Roz though." she states. "What kind of work do you do?" she asks him curiously.

"The for-hire kind," he says, nodding firmly. "I acquire things, or find places. Or, I lead people to places to acquire things," he says, before offering a gentle chuckle. "The easiest business is finding fruit. I harvest it myself," he adds. "Is the dancing profession or hobby?" He asks of her.

Roz quirks her eyebrow gently at that answer and nods her head, curls bouncing as she does. "That's understandable." she tells him. Then there's a smile, "The fruit smells delicious. So kudos for that." she states. There's a bit of a chuckle though at his question, "It's a profession. I'm a Choreographer. I also own a dance studio in town where I teach." she admits. "The other night my friend told me I should come along and I did." she adds.

"I'm glad you were there," he admits, nodding once. "It would've been a forgettable night if you hadn't slipped into my booth. And, thank you. The place where they come from is quite secret--The best fruit always is," he says.

Roz gives a smile to that, "It was a very interesting night. We'll have to do it again sometime." she tells him. There's a curious look of her eyes to the fruit and then back to him, "Quite secret?" she asks. "And I thought forbidden fruit was the best?" she teases him gently.

"Well," he says, quietly. "I think I've found fruit that I enjoy quite a lot. I might not be so interested in any other fruit for some time," he suggests a moment, before he leans back. "So the question, then, is whether or not that fruit is forbiddon. If so, then maybe you're right," he muses quietly, "But if not, then, I'll have to reject your conclusion."

Roz lets her eyes close for a moment and there's a bit of a smile, "Well, I can probably verify that I'm not dating anyone or sleeping with anyone else. I'm not forbidden, unless you hate the occult." she chuckles. "I guess this also depends on what you consider 'forbidden'. she adds.

"I don't hate the Occult, no," he says, shaking his head. "I've traded away all of my books, however, which seems terribly lacking in serendipity. Hopefully, you won't take that as some dramatic afront. But, I daresay that makes you not-quite forbidden," he adds, nodding a moment. "But, I digress. Which merchant has what you're looking for?" He asks, before leaning forward to look down the rows in the direction she was heading.

Roz gives him a warm smile, "Then I think we'll be fine then." she nods to that. "And if you'd like to borrow some books I have them." she offers. Then she holds up the bag, "I got it a few rows over, so nothing to worry on. I'm just wandering before I head back out to the gate and home." she admits.

"I'll be sure to come knocking if I require a text on such things. Do you have plans for the rest of the day, then?" He asks, curiously. He rises from the stool finally and moves it back into the corner a moment. "I could walk with you," he suggests.

"Excellent. I'd love to show you some books." Roz tells him as she looks to him. She straigtens as he asks the question and then move the stool back. "I don't have anything else planned but getting home in one piece." she states with a wink. "So if you are going to be closing down for the day, then I wouldn't mind walking with you." she tells him.

"It isn't like anyone's expecting me to be here," he says, before he stuffs the basket from behind the counter into a thick chest. It grumbles when it's shut, but, it holds shut and quiets after a moment. "I'm not familiar with the area just yet, so," he reminds her. As he comes around the counter, leaving the stall, he's wearing a set of thin, loose-hanging pants and a similar shirt. They were simple, but offered plenty by way of movement. Also, he was bare footed.

"Well I just wanted to make sure." Roz tells him as she watches him close up shop. There's a quirk of her eyebrow when the chest makes a sound, but she doesn't comment. The Market had more than enough odd things. She watches as he comes around the counter and there's a look to his feet, "Do you have shoes? You might need them." she asks. "And do you have a place to stay on the mortal side of things?" she asks him.

"I don't like shoes," he says, paradoxically. "Just stick to the grass?" He says, quizically. He liked the grass. The grass made him feel better. Having shoes did not. Therefore, it was quite simple in his own mind. "No," he says, shaking his head. "It's ... harder for me, there. I'm sure you can imagine. There's a hotel, but, the lights are too bright and the second story is ... well," he says, pausing. A whim welled up within him but he dared not mention it. He wanted to tell her how dull and ugly it was. How painfully boring and mundane. Businessmen came and went and nobody did anything of beauty. But those kinds of thoughts were decidedly Fae of him, and that made people nervous. "It isn't for me," he says.

Roz gives him a soft smile, "That's alright." she tells him. She gives a quirk of an eyebrow as they start to walk, "Well, you can stay with me if you need...until you've got something else set up?" she looks to him. "My place isn't an art museum or anything." she chuckles. "You're more in tune with your..fae side. I understand that it makes things difficult in the real world." she admits to him quietly.

"The others don't like it," he reminds her, smirking a bit. "It's dangerous. It makes me unpredictable. You know what they say: the Devil you know," he says, "Right?" A moment passes and he shakes his head. "Does it worry you?" He asks, directly. He didn't have the heart to meet her gaze as he asked the question, but he could still smell it. He would know. In his lucidity, he wondered if she could know?

Roz walks beside him quietly, her step light as they do. The hedge was a dangerous place. Then there's a soft chuckle, "The Devil indeed." she muses. There's a look to him and there's a soft shake of her head, "That's not an easy question. You've done nothing that should worry me and unless I dream about you doing something Gentry like...then I have nothing to be worried about at this time." she tells him. "I'd rather get to know you than assume the worst." she adds.

"That's dangerous, too," he says quietly. Even in the hedge, he stuck to soft grasses and a path of ease. They weren't going deep, so he didn't concern himself with the way the hedge reached out to his mind. "There's a place near by that I like. The land is ... agreeable, to me. And I to it," he adds.

Roz gives a softer look to him, "Getting to know you is dangerous?" she asks him as he talks on things. Then her look turns curious as he speaks on there being a place nearby that was agreeable to him. She reaches out to touch his arm gently, "Show me." she whispers. "I'm sure between the two of us if we run into trouble we can take care of it." she adds with a smile.

When she requests to go, Cassian takes a moment to glance around them a moment. He takes a moment to look at his feet a second. He could feel it through the earth. "Come, this is going to feel weird," he says. The contract was simple enough, and the loophole spoke for itself--It's why he didn't like shoes. He reaches out and takes her hand, before they turn a sharp right and ... he walks into a tree.

Roz gives a bit of a curious look down to his feet and then to him when he tells her it's going to feel weird. When he reaches out to take her hand and then turns sharply to walk into a tree she closes her eyes and follows him blindly for the moment, her other hand reaching to gently rest on his shoulder before she opens her eyes.

The sun fades away immediately, washing the pair in darkness. What was a blue, sunny sky is replaced with darkness, and twinkling lights of stars glittering overhead in a sea of black and blue haze. Larger than seems usual, a pale white moon illuminates the glade overhead. It was unmoving and permanent overhead, glowing for the pair. The simple, thin-skinned green tree they stepped into is replaced by a grand, ancient willow tree that they step out of. A veil of white lengths create a curtain to step beyond, beneath the willow. Releasing Roz's hand, Cassian steps forward and motions towards the curtain of willow-branches. Almost as if by command, the branches part to let her step through.

Roz wasn't expecting what she sees. There's a moment taken to look up at the stars and then to the willow. There's a thoughtful look to the area and then she looks to Cassian as he lets go of her hand. When he motions for her to step through and they part there's a soft smile to him as she takes delicate steps through the threshold. "This is a beautiful place." she tells him quietly.

"This is why I can't sleep in my hotel," he says. He wondered how anyone could manage sleeping in a boring place when places like this existed. "I am more home here. That makes them nervous," he says. After she passes, so does he. The willow branches flutter closed as soon as he's through. He takes a few steps passed her, over a small clefted hill. Beneath them, the bank of a small pond spread away from them. Lilies grow on the pond, and the water is motionless. "Still waters run deep. Even tranquility is predatory in a place such as this," he adds, as if advising her to stay away from swimming.

Roz gives a look to him, understanding a little of what he meant, "Your comfort is what matters in the end when you chose a place to stay." she tells him. She follows after him though, not sure if he's going to go all Shining on her at some point. She heads over to the pond, just as he tells her it's probably filled with something that'll eat her. There's a bit of a frown, "That is true. Any idea what's in there?" she asks him.

"If I had to guess? Nothing," he says, "Or everything." It was harder here to remain lucid. It all called to him and drew out his heart. "You know how these things are. But, the lilies are safe. Even wading has drew no ire from the depths. The lilies are special to me. They're the happiest flowers in this place," he says. Following the bank of the water, there's a larger tree with thick branches that spiral and traipse upward. It was a good place for a home. Around them, fruit grows in patterned masses, fitting to neat plots arranged and ordered ... sort of.

Roz gives a laugh when he says what he does, "I can test a few things. Best to make sure there's nothing that will take off a leg before stripping down and going for a dip." she muses to him."I like lilies. They used to have them where I grew up." she states idly as she watches the water. When he moves off, she follows after him, "Have you checked for any of the more dangerous plants? Gallowsroot and things?" she asks him as she looks over the garden. "That's a big garden." she murmurs to him.

"There were stabapple--I think I can use the thorns as arrowheads," he says, quietly, offering her a suspicious look for a moment. It passes and he returns to glancing over the glade. "I haven't fully explored the area. I set to work making it a habitable place. A place of comfort," he says, before returning to eye her. "I can take you back, now. If you wish," he offers.

"Probably not a bad use for it." Roz agrees with that. "If you would like help with exploring, I will happily offer to help given I like that sort of thing." she tells him. When he eyes her again there's a look to him and a smile, "I have a class to teach in the morning, so I should probably be going...as much as I'd like to stay." she tells him quietly. "So if you'll lead the way, I can make my way back out of the hedge pretty easily." she smiles.

"It's a few miles," he says, smiling. He turns from the glade to walk back towards the willow tree they arrived at, before he offers a hand again. "Until next time," he says quietly. If she takes his hand, he'll walk her through the tree again--Though, she arrives alone the second time.

"I know, it's just most times I stick to the roads. Briarwolves are less likely to eat me." Roz tells him with a smile. She follows him back towards the entrance and there's a look to him as she takes his hand, "Until next time." she smiles warmly to that. She closes her eyes again with the tree trick comes up. When she opens them she turns, half expecting him to be there, but he's not. The Fairest looks a bit...disappointed? Then she shakes it off and gives the tree a fond look, "Good night, Cassian." she whispers softly before she turns and heads off into the darkening Hedge.
