"He likes wings!"

Jacob, Signe and Lala - Briefly

2017.09.17

Alocer goes for a run and Jacob helps catch him, which leads to some good fortune for the man.

Location

Entertainment District and Desrochers

What are two things you don't expect to see on a Sunday night in Fort Brusnett? One is Hellhounds. The seconds is silver haired women chasing said Hellhound. Signe had parked in Desrochers and as soon as the door opened, Alocer had bolted. The massive Tibetan Mastiff hauls ass for the safety of...no buildings. "Al goddamn it!" the young woman chasing him calls out. At least her legs aren't short...

Jacob had just spent a couple of hours inside 'experiencing' Lala and Cian, so when he steps out of Desrochers, he's looking a little bewildered. It also means he's in an odd frame of mind as he hits the bottom step to see the unexpected 'hound bolt across his path. Instinct immediately tugs on him and he perks up and stares after, already two steps into chasing before he manages to catch himself and pull up, the brain lurching into gear. he turns his head to look at Signe and sees see is ALSO chasing the hound, and the part in sentient control just says 'fuck you, we're going' and he starts running again after Alocer. Is he trying to catch the hound or just run with it?

Signe at least isn't wearing heels. She'd have kicked them off a few seconds ago. There's a bit of a wave as she sees the door pop open, but she has no idea who Jacob is, the scruffy profile is a brief glimpse and is tucked away. Then the guy is starting after the hellhound and there's a quirk of an eyebrow as Alocer speeds up, "I'm not buying you any wings if you don't stop!" she calls after him. Even that doesn't make him stop.

Wings? Jacob has enough presence of mind to shoot Signe an odd look at that, but ultimately its not enough to discourage him, assuming it was meant for him. A growl of effort escapes the hunterheart as he lunges, trying to grab at the huge canine with a commanding tone to his voice, teeth even bared a little with the effort. Ooookay, this stranger is just going to pounce her dog in the middle of town for shits and grins?

Alocer is running like the cops are after him, but his losing steam, maybe he was losing the want to run with his chicken wings in peril. He gives a look back at Jacob and he realizes the game is done.

"He likes chicken wings!" Signe shouts as the guy is definitely in front of her. There's a breath out though when he goes to lunge forward and he catches Alocer. The dog is huge and powerful. What Jacob probably doesn't expect is the impact from Signe as she ends up landing on him, making the pile topple over. Well, this is awkward...

Well, landing on Jacob is certainly softer than landing on the asphalt, there is that benefit to offset the Awkward (tm). He manages at leas to hold on to Alocer's collar as he lands on his back and has a chest full of silver-haired girl, knocking a loud 'oof' out of him. Alocer might be on his feet right away, but Jacob is a little slower to recover, blinking up at Signe for a moment, then clearing his throat, "Hi." He smiles a little, "Your puppy didnt look like he was listening."

Signe was not expecting to end up falling on Jacob. But...it's not so bad! She plants her hands on either side of his shoulders on the ground and there's a smile, "Hello." she tells him. Then there's a blink and a look over to Alocer, "No, he wasn't. I'm so sorry you had to chase him." she states as she looks back to Jacob. Then she looks down and realizes she's literally straddling the guy, "Oh goodness." she laughs as she rolls off of him. She sits up and then leans over to ruffle Alocer, "We'll get you out to the park, promise." she tells him. "Thank you." she states softly as she looks back to Jacob.

A soft chuckle escapes him when she finally rolls off of him, the point where he reaches back to push himself up to a seated position and flash a bright smile at her, showing his teeth, "You're very welcome. If you need someone to help walk him, I probably could use the help finding the local parks as well. I'm a little...new to town. Still finding my way around in some places. I was hanging out here waiting to see if they were hiring, but the clientele was starting to get a little, ah, odd and aggressive."

Signe gives him a smile, not so full of teeth, but it's friendly, "He's having a hard time settling. His old companion died and well, I'm not as cool as she was." she tells him. Alocer gives a bit of a chuff, "You're fine." he mutters. Then she listens to Jacob and there's a smile, "And sure, making new friends is great. I've not seen you about, so figured." she tells him. "Are you aware of the Wayhouse and Freehold etc?" she asks him. Then she grins, "Well, I'm Signe Desrochers. I tend bar. We could probably use you somewhere though. And...who was odd and aggressive?" she asks.

Jacob slowly clambers to his feet, dusting those worn jeans off. He sounds a little surprised when Al speaks, and just grins, "I had a feeling..." then addresses Signe, "Actually I came here because I heard about the freehold, but I mean...I've only been here a couple of days, so I don't even know where to fucking start. If you're part of that AND you might need someone to look scary in the bar, this might be my lucky damned day. The odd one was this dayglow chica named...Lala, of all things?

Signe gives a bit of a chuckle, "Al's my hedge beast companion." she states as she gets to her feet. "I'm...just a Fae-Touched." she tells him quietly. Then she smiles to that, "I am a member of the Freehold and I work at Desrochers as it's part of the family." she admits. "I could introduce you around to some people, see if you want to get into things." she offers. Then there's a pondering moment, "Don't think I know her." she admits. "They weren't like...being nasty to you were they?" she asks.

Jacob rumbles softly, "When I hear someone say 'just' attached to 'fae touched', it always makes me wonder who's been an arrogant bitch to you about that..." He seems to let that go for a moment, considering, then nods his head once, "That would be /really/ helpful, actually, though to be honest, if you did just any one of those things, I would still be in your debt. Mostly I'm just concerned with finding employment so I can pay for my place, and convincing a freehold Im not here to stab anyone in the back, so I can feel a little more comfortable with hiding out. Feel a little, ah, naked at the moment."

Signe gives him a bit of a softer smile, "We can talk about that another time." she tells him. Then there's a moment she focuses on him as he speaks and there's a nod to him, "You don't have any debts, we should be helping newcomers out. That's proper to do." she tells him with a grin. "The Waykeepers are a good group, I can take you over to the Wayhouse and see if anyone is about to talk to you sometime..." she trails off, "I didn't get your name. Apologies." she finishes. Then there's a bit of a look over him and then back to his eyes, "We wouldn't want to make you feel like that." she muses.

Slipping his hands into his pockets, the smile lingers on his face while she explains. When she apologizes, he shakes his head, "Nothing to be sorry for..." One hand is pulled out of his pocket and offered, "Jacob Drake. I doubt there's any way I'll forget a pretty girl with your hair, but what is your name, if you don't mind sharing? I dont know if I want to immediately jump in and be ACTIVE in the group, but I'd love to get used to who's around and who the sources of drama are so I can tiptoe around them a little. And no...they weren't being mean or anything. Lala was just being, er, really friendly. Like disturbingly so."

Signe gives another ruffle to the big dog and there's a smile, "I know, just one of those things." she tells him. When he offers his hand, she reaches out and takes it, giving it a shake, "Nice to meet you, Jacob. I'm Signe Desrochers." she offers. "And you don't have to jump in and be active. Just hanging around and getting to know people is sometimes the best for us." she states. "And yeah, that's really weird, but as long as no one is trying to burn the place down." she chuckles. "So are you looking for just basic work or did you want to do bouncing?" she asks him.

A blonde in a fluffy, fuzzy orange coat, pink pajama bottoms and slippers emerges from Desrochers. She is, how shall we say this? Fucking pissed. "That asshole stole my phone!" she bellows at no one in particular. This is Serious Business(tm), y'all. She is a millennial. She lives and dies by her phone. She has some /shit/ on there. Some /private shit/.

Lala storms over to a fast little Lotus parked across two parking spots -- hey, you try parking in slippers -- and flings open the driver's side door. Tosses her itty-bitty purse inside. Throws herself in soon after.

  • SLAM*

The car roars to life and peels out, the girl off to commit violence on someone. Or something. I MEAN, HER PHONE, MAN. HER GOD DAMN PHONE!!

Jacob mmms softly, "Well, I have some experience as a bouncer, but right now, I'm not being really that picky. I'll fill whatever hole you need filled at the moment, as long as it pays at least minimum wage. The landlord doesn't take happy thoughts and manual labor for the rent payment, as much as I wish he would, and he's also not very patient." He pauses there to smile for a moment, then adds, giving her hand a squeeze before releasing, "Good to meet you, Signe. Sure, any help you might have would be perfect. I could even give Al some cover and 'take him for walks' if you like."

Signe just stares off after the Lotus that pulls off and the chick that is driving, "Is...that who you were talking about? Might need to see who was messing with her phone." she asks as she blinks. Then she looks to him and there's just a bit of color that rises across her cheeks, not a lot to notice. "I'm sure we can use someone to lift stuff behind the bar and to help when it's busy. Most people fight it out at the Union, not here." she tells him with a smile. "And if you want to walk Alocer I totally don't mind. He could probably use a good run. Or well, we both could." she chuckles.

Jacob glances at the fleeing Lotus and grunts softly, "I was trying to avoid making eye contact so she didnt stop to talk to me, but yeah...that was her. With the dayglow jacket that was made out of a dead Muppet?" He bows his head at the suggestion of the job, "Barback would be just fine. I'm not real picky at the moment, and if your bar is nice and quiet, then so much the better. Im not really TRYING to find a fight...I can just handle it if one breaks out." When she talks about needing a run of her own, he just grins, "Well, any time you want some company, I do have a cellphone, and im pretty sure between myself and Alocer, there's not a chance in hell anyone will give you trouble on a run."

"I'm sorry about that. Also, wonder who stole her phone." Signe mutters to him. She tries not to giggle at the dead muppet joke, but she does. Then she sobers a bit, "I can get you an application to fill out, just basic stuff and talk to Celine. She's the boss." she tells him. "And yeah...most of us that get back aren't looking, but we find them." she muses. Then she smiles, "Sure, I'd love a running buddy. Can exchange numbers and all that." she nods.

Jacob murmurs, "Not sure I want to know..." about the phone. He slips his hands back into his jean pockets and bobs his head, "Find Celine. Got it. I will camp out here if I have to. If you can point me at the application, I'll get it fillwed out and keep my fingers crossed." He takes a moment to draw in a deep breath and lets his thought shift for a moment, "In the meantime, is there anything you'd recommend me checking out, or NOT checking out? I've already heard that Tamarack Falls is not exactly...friendly to us."

"Best not to know probably." Signe chuckles. Then she looks towards the bar, before looking back to him, "We could head in and get you started. I was just picking up dinner before I head back over to close my shop for the night." she tells him with a smile. "And you can put me down as a reference." she adds. "As for places to stay away from, the East Bank is bad news and the bridge at night is also. Don't stop and talk to strangers on it." she tells him seriously.

Jacob thinks about that and nods, "Keep away from the East Bank, and don't talk to strangers on the bridge. I think I can stick to that." He smiles warmly and guestures as if he intends to follow her inside to get that aforementioned application, "You have a shop? Do you mind if I ask what you do? I'f Im being too nosy, its okay to tell me to fuck off. I get curious." Of COURSE the wolf gets curious. He's probably exercising extreme restraint not trying to lean in and get a headful of her scent by now.

"Yeah, some weird shit has been going on out there lately, not to mention local legends." Signe tells him as she starts to turn and head back towards the bar. Then there's a smile over her shoulder, "I just bought an old place and remodeled it a bit, it's a tattoo parlor. I do tattoos when I'm not bartending." she admits. "I don't mind you asking questions, that's totally fine. Not like I'm going to bite your head off about it." she muses as she pushes the door open and heads in with Alocer in tow.

Jacob ducks his head a little to follow her in. The bartender seems to recognize him since he was, you know, just in here in a little while ago, and might be surprised that he's in tow after Signe. He sidles up to the bar to lean on it and murmurs, "Well, I guess if enough gather, wierdness is going to follow, right? Makes it kinda strange that there's safety in numbers that way, but if it works, I'm not gonna question it. Im just goo punching it when things go nuts." The mention of a tattoo parlor seems to catch his interest and consideration though, "Really. I had thought about maybe trying something small out. Maybe I'll have to come look at your work and see how I like it."

Noah is working the bar, so it's no big surprise that he greets Signe with a hug over the bar and there's a look to the man that follows behind her, "Everything alright?" he asks as he looks between the two of them.

Signe gives a smile to Noah, "Yeah, everything's fine. I just need an application for this gentlemen." she tells him as she leans over and grabs one. "And yeah, enough will follow." she tells Jacob as she hands him the application with a smile. Talk of him coming to see her work makes her smile, "Sure, I'd like that. But, I've got some bad news..." she trails off, giving him a look over, "A tramp stamp is not going to look good on you." she tells him in a deadpan. But the corners of her lips twitch a bit before she starts to chuckle.

Jacob lifts a brow at the comment, then really cant contain the snort and laugh that erupt. Brows arch as he gives Signe a look and hehs, "Oh honey, then how will I entertain my boyfriend watching me get undressed?" He even winks at that and shakes his head, reaching for a pen to start filling the form out pretty much right there, though he continues to murmur at Signe, "Besides, if you're going to break my ink cherry, I might have to take some of your suggestions under advisement. Isnt the first one always going to be one you regret later?"

Signe puts a hand over her heart, "I knew it. All the hot ones are gay. Not that it's a bad thing. Means my cousins will have a chance." she tells him with a laugh. Then there's a smile as he starts to fill out the application and she chuckles, "Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't. I tend to not tattoo people when they are drunk and if they insist...they get Teletubbies." she tells him. That one she's not kidding about. Not at all.

Jacob snickers softly and murmurs, "Sorry to disappoint your cousins, but I am indeed interested in the female of the species, and QUITE confident in that preference." The mention of teletubbies draws a smirk and a snort, and he pauses filling out the form long enough to shoot her a look, "You understand of course, the first time I see someone with a Teletubbies tat, Im gonna fall over laughing and they are going to have NO idea what I find so godsdamned funny, so thank you for that." He winks, and goes back to finishing the form, turning it around to slide back across the bar.

"Awww. You and Beau would have made such an adorable couple as well." Signe states with a laugh as she settles down on the stool next to him. She watches him for a moment and then she looks to him as he explains the Teletubbies and she grins, "There's a guy that works at the Union that insisted on getting a tattoo. He has a tiny Poe on his wrist now." she beams. "Make stupid decisions, win stupid prizes, you know?" she looks to him.

Jacob settles down on a stool once he's done with the form, asking Noah, "Could I get another whiskey and coke, and anything she wants if she wants something?" With that said, he grins to himself, "I might have to ply you with alcohol to get you to tell me of all the stupid and incriminating things people have had you do. I can imagine prim and proper folks wanting something truly shocking on an upper, inner thigh, though damn, that would have to hurt."

Noah just gives a chuckle to Signe, "You're horrible." he states with a wink. Then there's a look to Jacob and a nod, "Coming right up and she's gotta drive so she gets plain coke." he states. Talk about protective cousin.

Signe gives a smile to Noah and then looks to Jacob, "He knows I've got a long day tomorrow, mainly because we've got to move my cousin into his dorm tomorrow and I got picked to help since I have a truck." she chuckles. Then she looks to him and there's an impish gleam in her eyes, "Oh, I've got stories." she muses as she gives him a wink.

Jacob offers a bow of his head at the mention of driving, "Understood. I wouldnt want to be a bad influence to someone I just met. I should wait until I've known them for at least a week before I start trying to encourage them to do bad things, right?" There's a bright, winning smile that goes along with that statement, along with a brow waggle, before he takes a drink from his own glass, and murmurs his thanks to Noah.

Almost as an afterthought, he takes his phone out and slides it over the bar to Signe, "If you'd like to text me your number, that way I can maybe see when you're free later and come by your shop? If you need some help moving, I dont mind being a dumb strong back. I take orders well..."

Noah gives Jacob a look and a bit of a chuckle, "At least a week." the man tells him with a nod of his head. "I'll give this to Celine, Sig, just let her know you referred him." he reminds her. Noah doesn't mind it.

There's a smile from Signe as she takes his phone and programs her number in, "I'll do that." she tells him as she slides the phone back over. Oh the temptation of doing weird names. He'll just have to see later! "And I'd love help, I'm sure they would as well." she tells him with a smile. "And I can pay you some." she offers.

Jacob waves off the idea of payment, "Hey, you're already helping me out a lot with the job lead and the introductions. Being a pack mule for an afternoon is the least of what I can do, hmm? I'll even bring a cooler with some water bottles or adult beverages if there's going to be a few people there..." He finally takes the phone back and eyes the new entry, then nods and tucks the thing away, "Right now, Im pretty much free, well, any time, so just let me know and I'll throw clothes on and head wherever you need me to show up." Awfully agreeable.

"Yeah, but you also have to live and pay bills." Signe points out to him. "So, just take a few bucks. It might get you through a rough patch until you get regular paychecks." she adds with a smile. "Ooo. Adult beverages, I'm totally liking this." she grins to that. "Don't throw on clothes on my account." she whispers jokingly to him. Getting a quirk of her eyebrow from her cousin at that. Then she sobers and looks to Jacob, "Don't be too agreeable around here, don't want anyone taking advantage of you." she tells him. "I've gotta go sadly. But can text when I'm home...if you are a night owl." she offers. Then Noah is handing her the bag of food and it smells WONDERFUL. "Hey, Noah. He helped me wrangle Alocer, so his food and drink is on the house tonight." she tells him.

Jacob smirks at the clothes comment, "If I don't, I think moving stuff is not going to happen, one way or another. Probably instead the police will be called by SOMEONE." He grins at that and offers a bow of his head to Signe, "Well, you've been very helpful...I think I can be a little agreeable for that...I've been called a pain in the ass by enough people, I dont think there's any danger of me being taken advantage of. Thank you."

Signe just laughs, "Little old ladies will be clutching their pearls." she nods sagely to this. "Or throwing money." she muses. Then she leans in to whisper something to him, before she pulls back and gives him a softer smile, "I'll talk to you later, Jacob." she tells him. Then she's gathering food, coke and dog to get out the door. It was like juggling almost.

You whisper "Noah is mortal, so don't mention anything around him. Please." to Jacob.

Jacob offers a thumbs up to the whisper and smiles, "Will do..." and there's just enough time for her to hear him turn to Noah and say, "So she says you're a secret My Little Pony fan. Who is your favorite? Applejack?"
