Off the Beaten Path hosts an open house.

Location

Off the Beaten Path

While the B&B always looks ready for company, it's been spruced up a little more today. More, there are trays of food, largely finger foods, set out, along with a variety of drinks, both alcoholic and non. These are set out in the kitchen, the dining room, even the large living room, suggesting that people are free to wander about as they like.

The hostess is in the living room, dressed in slacks and a dark green sweater. She's not sitting, not yet, but is sipping from a bottle of water while she surveys the room, like she's making damn sure that it's fit for the open house.

Doll is standing patiently in the living room off against a wall, hand folded before her. She's dressed in a loose black dress with little ruffles on the ends. Her visible skin is lined with hairline fractures and her eyes and nails appear to be made of glass. She rocks slowly on her heels as she looks around, waiting for others to arrive but there's a glance here and there to Sophia. She does need to speak with her on manners after all but for the moment she just smiles politely.

Yuuki comes to the open house, why? Cause he should probably stop crashing on his cousin's couches. The small Fry Lost bounces in with a giggle. Wearing a pair of leggings under a cute girly skirt. He has his favorite hoodie on, swiped from a certian Oracle. And then his hat, which has the little daredevil symbol on it. He giggles with glee as he spots Doll. Waving with an overload of enthustic excitement and then bouncing over to her. "Hihihihi!!!" He grins. "Hi Doll! Hihi!!"

Callie wore a hoodie, marked with the logo of the local university. It was dark in color, and contrasted rather strongly with her pale white skin. Well, that, and her crimson eyes. Stepping into the homey room of the bed and breakfast, she gives her chin a flick - her eyes flickering from Sophia, to Doll, to back again.

A bit of a grin plays at the edge of her lips, showing off a fang.

"I'm not late to the party, am I?" she asks. The rest of her outfit was a dress - white, and long, worn over leggings that were tucked into knee-high boots, with big chunky hiking and soles for traction on the snow outside. Bringing up her hand, she points at Sophia, and clicks her tongue as she fires a 'fingergun' her way. "I mighta brought gifts."

Sophia smiles as people wander in, giving each of them their own smile. At least she's a friendly B&B owner! "Hello everyone. And no, you're not late. This isn't really a timed thing. People can show up as they please. I'm Sophia, by the way. This is my place. So make yourselves at home, eat or drink as you like. And while I appreciate presents, that's not necessary," she says, giving Callie another smile.

Dolls quiet composure dissipates when Yuuki enters the room and she waves back with an energy that one wouldn't expect her to have. "Hi! Hi! Yuuki!" She responds in that soft voice of hers, going higher than normal. She waves to Callie and then nods to Sophia. "Nice to meet you. I met someone here the other night that suggested I speak with you about something. I'm Doll by the way."

Yuuki grins as he is welcomed. "Hihi Sophia, I'm Yuuki, Yuuki Fry!!" He bounces with a giggle. "Hihi Doll, are you doing good? I hope so, cause you were really nice and stuff!!" And then he spots Callie, a small, cute squeak and a bit of a more subdued wave. "H-hihi Callie!!" He tries the same energy, and moves a bit closer to Doll. "I hope your well! You were really cool too!"

With the freedom to show up as they please, Kat had actually probably appeared at the B& just a wee bit early and then gone off to hide in the corner and watch other people arrive, so hers is not so much a grand entrance as a slow re-emergence as she peers out from her chosen place. It almost seems that her eyes grow larger as more people show up, though at some point they probably stop before her face explodes. She's not really dressed up much, with her usual sort of conservative sweater-vest, blouse and longish skirt, and big-rimmed glasses that seem humorously superfluous on her wide eyes.

Callie's grin grows a bit wicked as she spies Yuuki's reaction to her. A little snort of amusement, and she casts a wink Yuuki's way as well. Stepping nearer to Sophia, she brings a hand out of the pocket of her hoodie, trying to hand something over slyly, hiding it in the palm of her hand. Like she was going to shake Sophia's hand at the same time.

Leaning forward with that contact, she would whisper, "Caroline Utridge. Friends call me Callie - and I hope you become a friend, right?" she says, the darkling smiling widely after that. Kat's appearance draws her eyes that way, and Callie lifts her chin to her. Callie pages: It's a nondescript pill bottle, no label. A handful of Vicodins inside, if Sophia can recognize that.

There doesn't seem to be any problem from Sophia as far as early guests and lurking goes. But she does tilt her head a little at Doll. "Oh? What would you like to talk to me about? If it's getting a room here or gardening I can probably help you. Other things..." She smiles. "Well, those are less likely, but still possible. And it's nice to meet you, Doll, and Yuuki."

Her attention is grabbed by the sly motions of Callie, and she returns the 'handshake'. She listens to the whisper, before she laughs softly. "I'm happy to be friends with anyone who wants to be a friend. I'm a people person," she admits, despite clearly being a flower-person. Literally. And after the handshake? Her hands go into her pockets.

Doll nods a few times to Yuuki. "I'm very well!" She responds. The area around doll seems a shade darker then in other spots, as if she takes in the light around her. She nods back to Sophia then. "A room yes, the attic specifically." She curls a finger in her dark curls. "I spoke to Rorscheck...well we wrote." She giggles some. "He said he wouldn't mind and I suggested he take the basement but he said I should speak with you about it."

"It's really, really nice to meet you Sophia! I maybe wanted to see about staying her for a bit... Cause.. well, I just stay with cousins and friends, and I really, really should have my own room!" He nods more here, to reaffirm his point. The wink from Callie earns a bit more blushing and moving a biiiiit closer to Doll. "I'm glad your well Doll, that's really really good!"

Callie brings up her non-shaking hand to pat Sophia's shoulder after the exchange, her fangy smile brilliant in spite of her dark mein. Leaning in a little bit, she whispers lowly, in a voice meant only for Sophia. "Really - if you need anything, just let me know. Anything to help the newly Lost find their way, right?" Straightening up again, she releases the handshake again, stepping away from Sophia. "I'm a people person too. We're going to get along great," she says.

A beat, and the darkling lets her eyes go back towards the others. Doll draws her attention for a moment, and one might get the sense that Callie was... inspecting Doll. Fingernails, eyes going to hairline cracks, the works. Setting her jaw at an angle, eyes briefly flicker to Yuuki - and her grin widens, before Callie settles on paying attention to Kat, stepping that way then. "Callie," she offers, leading with an extended hand for a shake. "Are you new in town?"

Sophia mms softly. "Well, I'm happy to give you a room, but until I speak with Rorschach, I can't really give you his room," she admits before nodding to Yuuki. "I do have several rooms, though it sounds like the basement and attic may be taken shortly." She pauses to listen to Callie, laughing softly. "I'll definitely keep that in mind," she promises.

"Eehehee!" Doll giggles in response to Yuuki as he wanders closer to her. For a Fairest she's relatively close to a Darkling. She nods to Sophia then. "I can stay in a normal room until it is all hashed out. I was also wondering if I do get the attic if it could be a permanent sort of thing. I'd be happy to help out around here for it. I am looking for a decent place to link a hollow to as well, but if you aren't okay with me doing so here I can fix it up elsewhere. I am more then happy to extend my services to anyone here though and it would be easier."

"I don't really like the darker places.. So that's okay! I'm happy with whatever really! And I can help out around the house an stuff!" He tells Sophia with that cutesy excitement. A nod to Callie, a blinking a bit, and moving to the other side of Doll, between Doll and Sophia, as if hiding a bit from Callie. "MHm! I can help Doll too! I'm super duper good at helping people!"

It was fine to be sorta close to a Darkling, as a Fairest. As it was, Callie was probably three steps away from looking like a Fairest, herself. Quirking her head in a glance towards Yuuki, Callie brings up a hand, gesturing at her features with black nails. "Am I that scary?" she asks Doll in particular, although her eyes flicker from Doll to Sophia, and back again.

Sophia turns back to Doll, shaking her head. "I'm fine with more long-term guests. I'm happy to have people stay for a night or a year. Though permanent guests I do ask to help out around here. Help clean, maybe cook. Rorschach's going to be fixing a few things, I think he said," she tells Doll and Callie. Then she grins at Callie, shrugging a little. "Not to me, but...I'm Autumn."

Doll studies Callie for a moment, much like the way she studied her. Her head tips back and forth, then back and forth and then she shakes her head. "Mmm...nope!" She's still half mimicking Yuuki's emotions but the rest in the room can tame it down some. "That's reasonable. I wouldn't mind cleaning. I can craft just about anything as well if need be. I'm Autumn as well." She says with a nod. She has a small mantle thats reminiscent of the silence that befalls halloween night after the kids have gone to bed.

... And this apparent confluence of Autumn Court fae may lead back to the perpetual corner-dweller, who, until this point, has still been just watching rather than pressing to make any introductions. Yet the apparent common ground that Sophia and Doll meet on draws another to join the growing gathering, with Kat slinking from her spot toward the others, although fixated largely on the pair. "It seems we're a lucky trio," she declares, a little abruptly upon making her approach. "Kat."

Callie's own mantle was... subtle. It was a tinge of energy around her - like an owl tensing as it awaits the mouse to dart across a field. But she was Dawn - and mantles and aspects tended to behave strangely around those types. "Dawn here," Callie confirms, bringing up a hand to point a thumb at her own nose.

"Uh oh. Did I stumble upon a secret Autumn meeting?" says Callie, holding up her hands with a wryness. "Just give me three steps towards the door - I think I'm owed a headstart, right?" says Callie, eyes flickering towards Kat as the quiet corner-dweller springs into life again.

Sophia smiles and nods to Doll, then Kat. "Nice to meet you Kat. And no, no secret meeting. I'm happy to have anyone here, regardless of Court, or lack thereof. So no need to leave. Besides, Rorschach, my other guest? He's not Autumn. So no discrimination here."

Doll nods to Kat. "Hello Kat." She greets. "Its always useful meeting more of ones own court, but no. No discrimination here." She agrees with a gentle smile. "It does seem like a lovely place to stay."

"I am a Dawn too." Yuuki nods, having been listening and quiet for a moment. QUIET? Yes, he has that mode. "I umm, is a semi permemant type thingie allowed?" He asks Sophia softly, being a tad quieter, his intial excitement calming into a semi-pleased happiness. His own mantle is full of that innocent hope and wonderous joy, like a fresh snowfall on Christmas Eve, though, around everyone here, his mantle all but fizzles out. Silly Dawns.

Sophia gives Yuuki an odd look. "I just said it was. Or were you meaning something else that I'm not catching onto?" she asks curiously before taking another drink of water. Then there's another smile. "I've tried to make it as homey as I could. I know we all lose a bit of what home really feels like, but I've done my best." She sinks down into a chair, crossing one leg over the other as she studies her guests with a smile.

Doll slowly sinks into a seat shortly after Sophia does. "I don't quite remember what home feels like, but I really like the feeling of this place so I guess its a job well done. I'm excited to start staying here, I just need something cozy." She carefully folds one ankle over the other and grips onto the edges of her seat. "Was the hollow thing okay if I do end up with the attic?" She tips her head curiously, all those dark waves slipping off to one side. "I think I've seen you around before cat though I haven't been very social the past couple years I'll admit."

Yuuki blinks, and blushes. "I.. umm. sorry. I guess I just misunderstood." He nosd to Sophia, and bows his head slightly. "Sorry Sophia!" He cutely aplogizes, and then he grabs a cookie, uh-oh, and plops down. Giggling a bit happily as he has a sweet treat.

"I often... keep to myself, at least when no one has special need of me," Kat explains to Doll, "And I live alone. So I'm easy enough to miss." In fact, one can probably see how the social-ness of this whole gathering itself may make her a little uneasy, but that's probably not the rarest of traits among the lost. However, the true trick to luring her out is soon revealed: "I am going to get something to eat." Food! Always the true way to a feline's heart.

Sophia's brow furrows a little. "You mean like having a door to your hollow here?" she asks Doll. "I'll admit, I'd kind of rather not. And here's why. You put a door to your hollow in the attic. A few months down the road, or a couple years, you move out. Someone else moves in, and finds this door to the Hedge in the attic. It could be problematic. But I'll think on it," she says with a smile. She focuses on Kat then as she goes for the food, and there's plenty of it. "I'm glad, then, that you came out to meet some people."

Doll nod a few times. "I'm okay either way. If you can recommend a safer place to link one let me know? I'm just having a bit of trouble with that." She admits and then she nods to Kat. "I'm glad you came out as well." She does look curiously down at Yuukis treat that he grabbed.

Yuuki happily nibbles his treat in silence. The secret to keep the Fry boy quiet, sweets. He bounces a bit in his seat.

Doll nods. "Thank you. I appreciate it." She tells Sophia then she gets up to wander over and check out the food as well. Some salad and bread for her with a tart or two on the side. Probably raspberry. With that she returns to her seat to carefully eat it.

Yuuki finishes his snack and hops up as he goes over and gets a plate FULL of sweets and settles back in, eating the sweets with a cute giggle and a pleased smile.

Callie herself had been quiet. Well. Mostly quiet. You see - when the conversation had lapsed, she had noticed the homecooked food and had spent a lot of time polishing off one of the more elaborate dishes on display, her eyes faraway, and looking... delighted. "Fan~tas~tic cooking, Sophia," she coos. "Hey - do you do catering? I'm asking on behalf of a... uh... friend. I can cook for myself, yeah?" she says, with a wryness.

With people invading her gorging space, Callie loads up a plate to wander back out into the gathering crowd, letting eyes flicker from person to person. And the Fry boy who she bothered - she gives him a level stare, leaning forward with darkness playing at the edges of her being - before casting that all away with a wink.

Sophia smiles and nods to Doll. "No problem," she says before she looks to Callie and laughs softly. "Catering? No, I don't have the time, but I'm more than happy to have people come over for dinner, even if they're not staying here. The more the merrier I think."

Doll chews quietly on her salad and treats. "A dinner party would be fun every here and there." She suggests. "We could always theme them around the holidays." She eyes Yuukis new plate this time and just blinks at the mountain of sweets there.

Yuuki seeems totally oblivoius to any looks as he happily nibbles his mountian of sweets. There are sooooo many questions about this, but you know, just chalking it up to him being a Fry works too.

Callie clicks her tongue against the roof of her mouth. "Maybe. It's a bit of a long drive from the city, though," she says. A beat, and she leans forward, scooting closer to Sophia to whisper towards her, her eyes glancing between the others in the room. Bringing up her hand, she pulls a cell phone out of one of the pockets of her hoodie, chewing on one of her lower lips with a fang as she shakes the phone towards Sophia.

"Hey. Can I call you sometime? I think I might have a plan to do just that," she says, grinning wider. "But it's gotta be on the hush hush," says Callie, tapping the side of her nose with a fingertip.

Standing up then, she walks directly over towards Yuuki's plate, those crimson eyes lingering on the other Dawn Lost. A little smirk, and she picks a sweet off of the edge of the plate, and pops it into her mouth. Then she hopes to take those fingers and ruffle Yuuki's hair.

"Either way - see you all later, right?" she says, casting a wink at the room at large. Whether or not she managed to get the sweet, or ruffle.

"I was meaning more just having people over for dinner. Not so much a dinner party, but..that could be arranged, too," Sophia murmurs thoughtfully. Her attention shifts and she smiles. "Of course you can. The number for this place is my cell, so call anytime you like," she tells Callie. "Drive safe, Callie."

The sweet is taken and the ruffle earns a pleased squeak, someone enjoys their head pats. A happy smile on him. "Buh-Bye Callie!" He waves to her with a smile and a giggle. Then goes back to happy nommings.

Doll sets her plate aside once she finishes and waves bye to Callie. "It was nice meeting you and thanks for hosting." She tells Sophia. "I'm going to check out a room for now until we sort things out, turn in for the night." She looks to Yuuki then. "I'll be here in one room or another if you ever need to find me." She says with a chuckle. "I'll see you."

Sophia watches Callie slip out before she smiles. "That's fine. Just pick the room you want for now and make yourself at home. They're all empty at the moment except for mine and the attic," she explains.

Somehow, when no one was looking Yuuki finished his entire plate. Where did it go? How'd he eat it all? Who knows. "Thanks a whole bunches for the sweets and for maybe letting me move in!! I'll come back again and talk more, okay? I gotta go, so Buh-bye now!" He giggles with glee as he hops up and bounds out the door.

Once she has her food, Kat will meld back into the background for as long as some general semblance of a gathering continues. And then, hopefully when no one is looking, slink off. Ninja(cat) vanish!
