Her Punctualitious Fashionablness, Planner of Perfection, the Wondiferous Perpetua

Perpetuaparty2.png Perpetuaparty3.png

Perfectionist Diva

Everything. Must. Be. Perfect. Regardless of the specifics of the event and setting, the day starts out hectic, with every little detail stressfully pursued to perfection. Nothing is allowed to go wrong. As things inevitably do, Perpetua will sink deeper into rage and/or despair, dragging the event and her hapless 'help' with her. The great day ends with the unfortunate 'staff' picking up the pieces, and Perpetua already moved on to planning tomorrow. It's her Big Day after all. And it's just going to be perfect.

The Big Day

He realm is less a where than a when, although the when is always now. The physical details change over time, but regardless of the location, every day in Perpetua's realm begins with the preparations for a party revolving around her. Sometimes it's a birthday, or a graduation; sometimes, when she's in the mood, a wedding to a special (but invariably disappointing and replaced) lad or lady. Sometimes, when her mood sours, she hosts her own funeral.

Recruitment

Perpetua does not believe in kidnapping or abduction, as such. All that terror and screaming is just far more work than it's worth and so unbecoming. Perpetua is far too kind for such terrible things and besides it deeply pains her the idea that anyone would not want to bask in her wonderful company. Perpetua offers people jobs of a lifetime, the chance to be part of something greater than they ever hoped for, to strive towards excellence, to be part of her masterpiece. She's so kind, so charming, so beautiful, how could anyone say no to her simple requests for their presence, their friendship, their skills. No one will ever appreciate them quite like Perpetua does. She sees diamonds and she just wants to help people shine.

Perpetua is a narcissist to the extreme, who believes the universe centres around her. Of course, in this assumption she is completely correct. Everything and everyone in her realm must cater to her needs, her whims and her tantrums.

She will usually begin by love-bombing those who join her realm, lavishing affection and utter adoration upon them, then come the gentle suggestions for improvement, until they ultimately end up disappointing her. Why must everyone let her down? Don't they love her enough?

Everyone has severe stockholm syndrome. She can be charming and likeable and fun and kind and pleasant and nice when things are going well, and who can't empathise with how much she just wants to be loved and admired by the other gentry? And there's the hope that just maybe, the Big Day will go perfectly, then they'll all be released from this never-ending cycle of party-planning pain.

Suggested Themes for Escapees

Party planners, servants, entertainers, chefs, tailors, jewelers, social butterflies, and general party personnel or otherwise entertaining or intriguing guests, as well as the occasional romantic interest to be Perpetua's husband or wife. (Note that while Perpetua considers herself to be a grand romantic her great love affairs are all exceptionally chaste, and like those of a Disney Princess, never progress as far as the wedding night. Something always goes inevitably wrong before any vows are exchanged.)

Common Creations - A clock-obsessed butler, a haunted pianist, a meticulously obsessive dress-maker, a despairing and doomed lover, a put-upon floral decorator; Regardless of their specific role, all Lost who escape the Big Day are shaped by the eternal and futile pursuit of perfection. Dusk and Dawn are common courts for such victims.

By Seeming

  • Beast - A beautiful song-bird, or a favored pet, exquisitely trained performer.
  • Darkling - A funeral mourner. A decorator that works in shadows. Antiquarians, Nightsingers and Mirrorskins most likely.
  • Elemental - A creature of carefully planned gardens that always seem to escape perfection. An ornamental beauty. Pyrotechnics and and Snow-Sculptors for breath-taking displays.
  • Fairest - Many options, as long as they wouldn't distract too much attention from Perpetua herself. The most unfortunate wind up on track to become Perpetua's betrothed.
  • Ogre - Unlikely, but a labor-hand or bouncer. Perpetua hates ugly things.
  • Wizened - Many options, servants, crafters, performers are all hired and developed by Perpetua, although her faerie "friends" tend to snitch the best ones, usually for even less pleasant Durances.
