Allen meets his Entitlement mentor. Ancient and Accepted Order of Bridgemasons. Part of Building A Mason.

Location

Weissmann and Schwartz Construction

Now why on earth would someone want to meet Allen after work hours about a special work project? It's a legit thing though. Donald McPhearson has been an employee for years. Probably joined the company when it first started. A not was left for Allen to meet him around 8:30 in the architect's office and to please not be late either.

And when Donny, er, Donald tells you to do something, you'd best do it or have a good excuse why not.

Hint: No excuse is good enough. Some of the younger bucks find out the hard way.

But not Allen! Seeing that note in Donald's distinctive handwriting is all the motivation he needs to stay close to the office and come back at 8:30 on the dot.

He pushes his way into the main work area and looks around. Maybe Donald's hanging out at one of the desks on the construction side of the office?

Donald is a Changeling as well, probably one of the things that Allen has noticed. Followed by the strong Autumn Mantle. Then probably followed by the violent outbursts towards inanimate objects when things aren't done correctly. But we don't talk about that. The door whips open behind Allen and Donald comes strolling in, "Thank you for not being late." he tells him in that no nonsense tone. "Do you plan on staying in town for a bit?" he asks the younger man.

Did Allen start a bit at Donald's entrance? Probably not. Who's to say?

"Yes, yes, sir, Mr. McPhearson," Allen answers, managing to keep the quaver out of his voice. "I'm not leaving any time soon."

Donald looks at Allen and then back to the door. Then back to Allen. Then back to the door.

Then back to Allen.

Then he shakes his head. Not saying anything. "The reason I wanted to speak to you is because I've been keeping track of you the past few weeks. You've got an eye for creating things and we look for that in the Entitlement that I'm apart of. Have you heard of the Bridgemasons in the Autumn Court, Allen?" he asks him.

The way his eyes light up and his posture straightens just a touch might be a clue that he has. "Oh, yes, yes, sir, I have," replied the ogre, "At least, I think I have... They... you... you build really fantastic buildings." He seems to be loosing steam. Don't blow this, Allen! "Right? And you can building them really fast?"

Donald watches the way Allen's eyes light up like a child on Christmas and the way he stands straighter and there's a nod of his head. "The group builds wondrous and grand projects." he states. "And we can do them really fast." he confirms when he asks that.

"You... you want..." Allen is suddenly either unsure or can't believe that it can possibly be true. "Oh, right, you just said... right." Allen composes himself. "So... What do you... How can I join?" He finally blurts.

Donald gives a chuckle, "A Bridgemason who sees potential in someone may encourage the recruit to hone their skills and then sponsor them." he tells Allen. "And Allen, I've never sponsored anyone." he reaches out to pat him on the shoulder. "Once they're deemed ready, they're taken into a secret room where the initiation ritual is done." he states. Well doesn't that sound very secret society spooky? "So what this means is that I'm going to be watching you and then I'm going to ask you to help me with a project. Then we'll initiate you. Does that sound like a plan to you Allen?" he asks him.

Allen accepts the shoulder pat like a devoted son accepts affection from a beloved father figure. "Yes, absolutely," Allen nods and answers enthusiastically.

"I will hopefully see you at the Fallen Fair this weekend. I am very glad to see one in the area. It's been ages." Donald states. "Also, get lots of sleep. We're going to be busy the next month." he smiles to Allen and then he's heading off. He's a busy man!

Allen watches Doanld exit Weissmann and Schwartz, unable to stop a goofy grin from spreading across his face. A second or two passes, and then he seems worried for a brief second ("WHAT ELSE AM I GOING TO MAKE?") followed by determination ("I'm going to make all the things!") before he squares his broad shoulders and leaves, too.
