It's a second before Edmond answers, pledgelike phrasing or not, because he's watching the way Kelsey moves, head tilted slightly back and eyes nearly half-lidded. His wooden fingers drum once in order on the outside of his glass, clacking in a quick rhythmic staccato. Finally, and with a slower smile, gaze gentling a little, he replies, "If you would like to do that, I certainly would not refuse. But I might have to write you a fancy letter with a new nib. I might have to dedicate that nib solely to writing letters to you."
He unfolds very slowly, taking a sip from his glass, then reaching to put it on the table, and collecting both finished dishes, and his eyes are still on Kelsey, and there's teasing there too, but it's also-- there's something serious behind it, serious and careful and full of dangerous things like hope. "If I were to write a letter to you-- to whom would I address it?"
