Explosions and flashes of light attracts attention in the Riverside Park. Thea meets Widget and Audra. Thea gives Widget an MDMA tablet and Widget gives Thea a gun and some bullets.

It's quiet.

Almost the witching hour, the city had slowed down.. in the park, at least. The modern LEDs do cast some light, but aside from that? It's dark out. Dark and mostly quiet. Lonely, maybe. A certain white-haired punk is crouched by the riverbank, fiddling with something. A pipe on a stick, perhaps? Her mirror image, glowing tattoos reflected in the still water, copies her every action. She's fiddling with her zippo. Her face is illuminated by the flame, her glasses reflecting the light as she struggles to make her be-mittened hands work.

Ssssssss--! The flame catches, burning through a... rope? A fuze?

"C'mon, lovely.."

A rocket screams, shrieks through the air, casting a glowing trail behind it.

KABOOM!

Blue stars shine down, exploding in a burst of light and heat and noise. They reflect in the water's surface. Birds, startled from their sleep, cry and squawk and scatter from their nests. And Thea? Grinning like a maniac, she shifts down the riverbank. Lighting fuses. And for a moment, she just stands there, watching the sparks burn ever closer to ignition.

There are few things more attractive to Widget than explosions. She loves them in any form, fireworks being a fine art in themselves. Colors, sounds, shapes, smells, it's a tricky but rewarding thing to create and use them.

So across the water, a certain gremlin looks up at the light and blinks in confusion. She hadn't done that one, had she? Oh? Was there another?

Another, yes, because she's got her thumb over a button rigged up to an ad-hoc salvo of fireworks of her own. This...felt like a challenge. A game? The gremlin likes it, whatever it is.

And whoever has a like mind, of course.

Audra comes in from the north, leaving Patterson.

Thea cuts a vaguely lumescent figure, at the edge of the park. Even if she wasn't currently setting off fireworks, she would be *very* noticable. It's entirely possible to get the sense that the heavily-tattooed punk wasn't often overlooked: she cuts a striking figure. Her face is briefly lit up by the flare of burning rocket fuse. Her expression? It's hard to tell over the smoke from the rockets and the fog in the air.. but, if one had either extremely keen eyesight or was otherwise close enough to discern details? You'd likely think that the woman's expression was almost longing.

Sparks are reflected in the water's surface, as rocket trails fill the air. Cracks, snaps, splutters.. KABOOMS. The light is almost blinding. Pinks and greens and blues and blinding white.

Thea does not put her lighter away. The Changeling holds the flame out, her arm relaxed/ slightly bent front of her.

Widget is much harder to spot in the dark, if only because everything she's wearing is dark. And she's dark. Well. Brown. The only real sign she's there are her eyes, flickering and fizzling in the gloom like a broken television. There's a hint of illumation to them, drowned out by her own salvo lighting up.

It does give a good view of the weird short person hopping up and down on the other side of the water like a maniac, though.

Hers are louder. If Thea has fireworks, Widget has flak. Bright and loud and concussive and hot, really only considered anything but proper rockets because it's in different colors and doesn't spew shrapnel anywhere.

After the noise and ear-ringing dies down, the manic notes of a very pleased cackle finds it's way Thea-ward. Weirdo incoming?

The city was certainly strange enough without the denser-than-average population of Lost thanks to the Freehold that fireworks in the urban center of the city is not entirely unsurprising. Then there's a sound that makes the woman nearly jump. The lighter that she was holding to light a cigarette is almost dropped, and swiftly stuffed in a pocket as Audra scours the street for the source of an improvised explosive device. A few curses are muttered as she stalks about, searching for the perpetrators. She already had one in mind, of course, but it was a biased assumption.

Three figures illuminated by the mad lightshow. One glowing and punky. One short and bouncing. One tall and misshapen. Audra's path converges with the others, the trio of witches convening on an explosive sabbath. "Do you have a license for this?" It's called out, though the woman's voice hangs in the air before falling flat. It seemed directed at either figure, though in truth Audra only recognized one of the pair.

That longing, stoic gaze of Thea's shifts into a mad grin. The rakish punk's violently violet eyes -- are they glowing? -- follow the trail of light and sound, before her reflexes kick in and she throws a tattooed hand up to protect her face.

Shehe laughs.

Thea has an explosive laugh. Loud and bold and brash. It echoes over the water, in the aftermath of the impromptu fireworks display. The flame, still burning at her zippo lighter, flickers and splutters. The glowing punk's lips part, her teeth brilliantly white. She's about to greet the cackling figure. And then?

Do you have a license for this?

The grin broadens, and she looks over a shoulder, throwing those wild curls about in the process.

"I sure do," she says, potentially sounding convincing depending on the listener! And as she speaks, she presses the end of the flame to another rocket's fuse. "Best stand back, love." She suggests, with a wink, holding the plastic tubing upright in front of her... in a way which was highly likely to be unsafe.

Audra can easily tell that. Thea is lying. Moreover, she's definitely taking the piss.

Also I think I forgot to mention it, but Thea has a distinct British accent.

Said short figure comes closer, scuttling across the bridge and ending up on Thea's side. She's...yeah she's actually really short. Like, really short. Probably a wizened. Wizened were usually small and weird, right? Yeah. That works. Hard to tell if she's got bulk or anything under the many many layers of winter clothing she's got on anyway. Could be all hobbit-y under there!

And the smellllll. It's industrial in the extreme, exhaust and burnt plastics and rust, all mingling into heady pollutant tang. The stench of propellant doesn't help any, turning it into a mildly caustic curler of a funk.

At least the voice is stately and put toge- ha no it's awful. Someone doesn't have a very firm grip on her sanity or the English language, high and manic words scattershot in execution. Mexican accent? A crude one, if someone has the ears for it.

"Who/are/you!? So cool and pretty tattoos and can help with the fireworks and my name is Widget hi and that's Audra and there's no license and hey did you see that duck get scared and-

Inhale.

Exhale.

"Hi. Yes."

The reply cackled at her does little to assuage Audra's suspicions, especially after the display of further firepower and Widget's subsequent arrival onto the scene. "Yes, well, I'm just going to stand here and make sure this display doesn't attract any overly inquisitive mortals." The woman rolled back her sleeves and adjusted her wet mess of hair, as if preparing for something as she watches Thea closely. A decent amount of space is given, and Audra choses to position herself so that Widget is between the explosives and herself. Strategic.

"Hello, Widget. Staying safe, I hope?" The owner of the second explosion is now confirmed, and a great burden is lifted as Audra's biased assumptions are proven true. No need to feel nervous for presumptions of guilt when you're right. The towering woman scans the water, her beady gaze illuminated by the nighttime glow - a wolfish grin hinted at by the odd lighting.

Thea grins at Widget as she babbles. But the firework she's currently setting off interrupts any introductions in return.

This close, the rocket really does sound like it SCREAMS out of Thea's grasp. She's not touching it directly, of course not. That'd be insane. A high pitched shriek, and then a crackle. And then? A KABOOM. This firework was the biggest yet, a giant Chrysanthemum bloom of coloured sparks, high up in the air.

Dimples form at Thea's cheeks as she stares upwards, an almost dreamy sort of edge gained in her expression. Aaand then Audra's words register. "Whaddya mean, 'make sure this display don't attract no inquisitive mortals?' " Thea says, loudly. Her accent still distinctly British. She *finally* clicks her zippo shut. Punctuating her sentence with a little click, which was hard to distinguish from the ringing in her ears anyway. "Tha's half the point, innit." Thea arches an eyebrow at Audra, the rakish grin returning to her lips. Aaand then she squats down to Widget's height, palms resting on her knees.

"I'm Thea. I take it you know this woman, then? Audra, did you say? Is she a cop?" Thea looks back to Audra. "You've gotta tell me if yer a cop."

Widget looks up at the explosion, basking in it. There's regular enjoyment and then there's what's going on with Widget. There's a worrying amount of interest in those booms.

But Thea speaks again and Widget gets a hint of the accent through that sweet sweet tinnitus. "Sound like Jenny. Yes."

....That's it, really. Thea sounds like Jenny.

I-It's not like Widget doesn't know what a British accent sounds like. That'd...that'd be silly.

Shut up.

"Audra? Yes. Cop? No. Works for the law. But not that law. Think so?" Peering at Audra, Widget discretely puts the detonator away. It was true, though. Totally needed to say they were a cop.

Widget's delivery of information amuses Audra. She entertains it, standing there and watching keenly. "You wanted to attract mortals? Looks like you didn't quite get your intended audience, but.." She rolls her shoulders and takes a drag from her half-lit cigarette. It was a small comfort.

"A cop? Not quite..." Audra gnaws on her inner lip before continuing, trying to stifle a smirk. "Though I am close enough to snag things from their offices, on occasions. I don't recall any ongoing investigations for maniacal firebugs, so I imagine that you've either escaped confinement, or you haven't been caught." Audra steps forward and approaches, if only so the three are in polite talking distance. "It was a nice display, at least. Why don't we start off properly." She gestures to herself, resisting the urge to bow as she watches the punk kneel down. "Audra. It's nice to meet you, Thea."

"Pleased ta meet yeh too, Audra. Widget." The cogs turn in Thea's head. Works for the law, but not that law? "A snitch?" She asks, tone teasing. Her grin returns. "Who's this Jenny, then?" she asks, without really thinking. At Audra's introduction, Thea stands. Straightens. Wipes her palms against her pants. "Well. Since no mortals turned up, perhaps you'd be interested in what I've got, then?" At that offer, the glowing lost opens her long jacket, revealing... well. A bunch of pockets. "Might be I've got a bit of something of everyone. And if I don't have it, I can get it."

Audra gets a proud look, Widget standing there with her hands on her hips. "Never. Yes." Well, once. But she escaped containment, alright! And they totally forgot about her. Hopefully.

"Jenny? Girlfriend. Tall. Made of plants. Makes booze and grows /lots/ of weed. Yes." Well, points for honesty. Widget doesn't bow, she just sort of fidgets. And then perks up. The gremlin has spent enough time on the streets to appreciate a good ol' fashioned street hawker. Oooh. This looked promising. "Take swaps?"

Thea blinks. Her long, dark eyelashes flutter down, all but cuddling her cheeks before she opens her eyes. Looks down at Widget, that smile still tugging at her lips. "Lots of weed, huh?" the glowing punk exhales, interest in her inflection. "I'll have to keep an eye out for this Jenny, then."

"Take swaps?" Again, she's repeating what Widget has just said. This time she wrinkles her nose, before she laughs again. Her laugh is still loud. Still bold. Still echoes across the water. "Well, why not? I am nothing if I'm not reasonable."

Thea's lightly pointed teeth glimmer in the dim light. It's not pitch black out here, the LED lights from the street lamps do mean that there is some light. It's just that the glow from her hair, from her eyes, from her tattoos is drastically bolder than the surrounding light sources. And so the shifting colours cast the strangest light over the packages she produces from her pockets.

"Well. Here you go. A gift from Auntie Thea."

They're little party bags, the sort that children's lollies usually are packaged in. Inside there is a sparkler.. and a tiny square plastic bag with a single white pill. The pill is ordinary enough looking, with a fireworks symbol pressed into it as an identifying marker. One could presume it was an MDMA tablet.

Woah.

Thea was pretty.

Blinkblink.

Right! The swap! The sparkler and the...piece of candy? Widget doesn't know what that is. But...hm. Oh! Oh! Widget has /this!/ Have some....bullets? Yup. Those are bullets.

"Magic. Really neat. Flip the gun first. Yes." Aaand Widget downs the pill thing right there and tries to find her lighter. She liked the sparklers.

Thea blinks, examining the bullets in hand. She holds one out, holding it tip to end between forefinger and thumb. Her expression suddenly losing all trace of amusement. Instead, she's quite serious! "Hoh. Say, you wouldn't happen to know where I could get a gun would you, love?"

"Here." Widget holds out a pistol, having dug it out of her jacket along with her lighter. It looks like it's...not quite homemade, no, but machined without any sort of markings or branding. "For the sparkler."

And the candy, whatever that was supposed to be. Tasted kind of bitter. But hey, Widget would try anything once.
